David has gained an outstanding reputation while working as Chairman, Chief Executive and Non-Executive Director with leading national and international organisations within the IT, electronics, telecommunications and healthcare industries.

David has proven ability to deliver significant performance improvements through organisational change, acquisitions and mergers while actively supporting new ventures.

Keith Monserrat , CEO

Keith Monserrat has spent the last twenty five years in the high tech world, leading and managing growth and change in both large and mid cap companies. He initially did pioneering Optoelectronics research and subsequently went on to hold various senior executive management roles in the Telcoms and New Media industries.

Keith served as the Technical Director of Kingston Communications (KCH) plc and led the joint venture, between KC and Yorkshire Electricity, to create Torch Telecoms. He was a founder member of executive team that established ScottishTelcom and successful floated the company on the London Stock Exchange. He joined ntl in 2002 and played a significant role in the acquisition and integration of Telewest and Virgin Mobile to create Virgin Media.

Keith spent some time in private equity as the Chief Technical Officer of Sigma Technology plc. He has held a number of non executive and advisory board positions.

Paul Tinkler , President of Worldwide Sales

As co-founder and CEO, Paul brings his natural leadership and entrepreneurial spirit to Mirifice’s management, sales and business development.

With the other directors, Paul founded Mirifice to build upon the teams’ technical excellence and broadcast experience, to form a company that delivers products and solutions to the broadcast industry and to be at the heart of this exciting industry.

Paul has over ten years IT and Telecoms sales and commercial experience. He headed Telecoms and Broadcast sales for Bath based software house IPL after working for Cable and Wireless in IP and Data. Paul led Mirifice through their first round of venture capital funding in May 2007.

Paul holds a Joint Honours degree in Accountancy and Law from Newcastle University.

Alex Dick , Engineering Director

With a career in Systems Engineering, Alex has over 21 years of experience in a wide range of technologies and software engineering projects for a diverse list of clients. He has headed development teams including Sony in the digital broadcast sector which he worked on eight years.

His team completed the Conditional Access swaps within Sky Italia, resulting in a €6m per month saving on fraud committed upon the network. Alex was also involved in the initial Billing and Intelligent Network design and build for the launch of Orange. Further engagements with a number of global electronics manufacturers and broadcasters have given Alex a rare insight into the broadcast sector and technology.

Alex holds a BEng Honours in Systems Engineering from the University of Bath.

Dr. Niall Buckingham , Technical Director

Niall’s background lies in technical consultancy and software development. Before joining Mirifice he was a Technical Consultant within the Digital Media division at Teleca Ltd. Prior to Teleca he worked for IPL for 15 years.

Niall’s experience has given him technical skills through the full range of the software life cycle. Since 1996 he has also worked with digital technologies in both the TV and mobile space, particularly in the areas of STB (set top box) middleware development, DTV broadcast delivery, and delivery of multimedia content to mobile. Niall also has relationships with some of the key players in the DTV sector and his technical and commercial experience highly complements the other team members.

Niall holds a BSc and PhD in Mathematics.

David Richards , Non-Executive Director

David Richards is a non-executive director and mentor to high technology ‘start-ups’. He has previously worked with a number of high profile technology companies ranging from Netscape to NetStore. He has 27 years experience of the IT, Communications, Electronics and EDA markets. Prior to going freelance David held senior technical positions at Marconi and Racal, and subsequently senior commercial management roles at Intergraph, Sun Microsystems (where he launched Java), and Paul Allen’s Asymetrix. He has worked in the UK, Europe, California’s Silicon Valley and the Pacific Rim. David’s principal expertise is product marketing.

He was previously a mentor to the DTI’s Software Business Network and is currently a mentor to the Bath, Bristol, Southampton and Surrey University SETsquared business incubation service.
